The Wildcats are set for Women's National Invitational Tournament action beginning on Thurs., March 17 at Utah State...Arizona is making its third WNIT appearance overall and first since the 200-01 season...At the Pac-10 Tournament, the Cats defeated Oregon and USC, but couldn't get by Stanford in the quarterfinals...SR F Soana Lucet had a fantastic tournament, averaging 20.0 ppg and 5.7 rpg in three games...She was also 5-for-7 from three-point range...For her efforts, Lucet was named to the Pac-10 Tournament All-Tournament Team...The Cats' 10-8 Conference record is their best since the 2004-05 campaign and their 19 wins overall are the most since the same season. Their fourth place finish in the Pac-10 is the highest finish for UA for the first time since tying for the Pac-10 regular-season crown in 2004...The Wildcats defeated Oregon and Oregon State on the road in the final weekend of Pac-10 play...On Saturday against Oregon, SR F Ify Ibekwe scored 31 points, a season-high...Ibekwe is the only player in the Conference to average a double-double night in and night out...the Wildcats have three players averaging double figures in scoring, Ibekwe (16.1), SO G Davellyn Whyte (15.6) and SR F Soana Lucet (12.2)... Ibekwe ranks as one of the top 50 scorers and top 10 rebounders in Pac-10 history ... Arizona returned a young but talented squad, including four starters. Ibekwe was named Preseason All-Pac-10 by the media and was also named to the Naismith Award watch list. Head coach Niya Butts is in her third season in Tucson.
ARIZONA STATE (20-10, 11-7)

The Sun Devils earned their sixth NCAA Tournament bid in seven years...ASU, a No. 7 seed, will face No. 10 seed Temple in the first round on Saturday, 1:05 p.m. PT in Salt Lake City, Utah...This will be the second time in four seasons that Temple and ASU will meet in the first round...In 2008, the Sun Devils defeated the Owls, 61-54 in College Park, Md....The No. 3 seed in the Pac-10 Tournament marked the seventh time in 10 years that the Sun Devils have clinched a top-three seeding...In the tournament, the Sun Devils defeated Oregon State, 50-44, but lost in the second round to California, 48-43...JR G/F Kimberly Brandon led the Sun Devils in their final regular season win over Oregon State, 59-54 with a 15 point performance... With the win, head coach Charli Turner Thorne moves into third place on the Pac-10's all-time wins list with 288, tying her with former Arizona coach Joan Bonvicini...SR Dymond Simon leads the team with an average of 13.8 points per game... Simon was a 2008-09 All-Pac-10 selection, but sat out all of the 2009-10 campaign because of a knee injury suffered in the final weekend of play in 2008-09 ... After advancing to the WNIT last year, head coach Charli Turner Thorne returns another young squad which features nine players with one year or less of Division I playing experience.
CALIFORNIA (17-15, 7-11)

The Golden Bears enter their sixth consecutive post-season appearance as they earned an at-large bid for the Women's National Invitational Tournament, beginning this week...Cal is the defending WNIT champion after winning in 2010... ...The Bears advanced to the semifinals of the Pac-10 Tournament, before losing to UCLA...The squad has won three of its last five and has not allowed an opponent to score more than 50 points in each win...FR G Afure Jemerigbe scored 34 points total in the Pac-10 Tournament, an average of 11.3 points per game...SO G Eliza Pierre had nine steals last weekend, the most of any player in the Pac-10 Tournament...SO C DeNesha Stallworth leads the team with an average of 13.6 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game. In 2010 the Golden Bears were the No. 4 seed in the Pac-10 Tournament and advanced to the semifinals, where they lost to the eventual champion Stanford Cardinal... Head coach Joanne Boyle's starting lineup has consisted of one senior, three sophomores and one freshman. She recorded her 200th-career victory on Feb. 3 against Arizona ... The Golden Bears are the reigning WNIT Champions.
Oregon (13-17, 4-14)

The Ducks saw their season come to a close in a 89-90 loss to Arizona in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament...FR G Ariel Thomas scored a career and game high 29 points to lead the Ducks back from a one-time 18-point deficit...The game was the highest scoring game in Pac-10 Tournament history, with 179 points scored between the two teams...The Ducks have an all-time record of 4-10 at the Pac-10 Tournament and advanced to the semifinals in 2002 and 2005... Oregon ranks 17th in the nation in scoring average, averaging 75.9 ppg and third in three-pointers made (8.5) ... RS JR G Nia Jackson had her first-career double-double vs. Saint Mary's, posting 17 points and a career-high 11 assists, the first UO player to record double-digit assists since 2005 ... Legendary head coach Paul Westhead is in his second season in Eugene ... Oregon closed the non-conference slate with a 5-0 road record, its first undefeated road record in non-conference play since 2005-06.

The Beavers finished up the 2010-11 season with a close loss to Arizona State in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament...FR G Alyssa Martin and RS SO G Sage Indendi combined for nearly half of the Beavers' points...SR F El Sara Greer finished up her career with 114 career blocks...Martin had 20 double-digit scoring games this season... RS SO G Sage Indendi set the single-season program record for threes in a season against the Golden Bears, racking up 75...Indendi ranks 21st in the nation with a 41.6 field goal percentage...SR F El Sara Greer ranks ninth in the nation in blocks per game (3.1) ... The Beavers are under the direction of first-year head coach Scott Rueck, who arrives to Corvallis after a successful 14-year stint at George Fox University.

Stanford, fresh off its 2011 Pac-10 Tournament championship, will return home to Maples Pavillion to face UC Davis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament...The Cardinal earned the No. 1 seed in the Spokane Region and will host first and second rounds...Stanford enters its 24th consecutive and 25th overall NCAA Tournament...The team has a record of 24-4 in NCAA Tournament games in Maples and also boasts a 61-consecutive home winning streak, second longest in the NCAA... ... Stanford has won 23-consecutive games since losing two in a row in mid-December ...JR F Nnemkadi Ogwumike was named the Pac-10 Tournament Most Outstanding Player as she led the team to wins over Arizona and UCLA en route to the Pac-10 Tournament title...The last time the Cardinal and the Aggies played was in 2009, and Stanford won, 76-51...The winner of the Stanford/UC Davis matchup will face the winner of Texas Tech/St. John's...The Cardinal clinched its 11th-consecutive Pac-10 regular-season title with a win over UO... Stanford is second in the AP poll for the fourth-straight week ... JR F N. Ogwumike, SR F Kayla Pedersen and Pohlen were named to one or more player of the year watch lists ... The trio were voted Preseason All-Pac-10 by the media ... Head coach Tara Vanderveer won her 800th-career game on Dec. 22, becoming only the sixth coach in NCAA women's basketball history to reach the milestone.

UCLA earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face No. 14 seed Montana in the first round on Sat., March 19 at 3:30 p.m. PT in Spokane, Wash...The Bruins are led by All-Pac-10 selections SR G Darxia Morris (12.3 ppg), JR F Jasmine Dixon (11.8 ppg, 7.2 rpg) and SR G Doreena Campbell (9.2 ppg, 3.4 rpg)...UCLA advanced to the finals of the Pac-10 Tournament at Staples Center over the weekend and had an 11 point lead over the favored Cardinal early in the second half, but lost the game, 64-55...The Bruins clinched second place in the Pac-10 with road wins at Arizona and Arizona State two weekends ago. The wins also gave UCLA 12 road victories on the season, a new program record. The previous mark of 11 had stood since 1992 ... UCLA's 26 regular-season wins are the most by a Bruin squad the 1980-81 squad racked ... UCLA is ranked in the Associated Press top 10 for the ninth week, climbing as high as No. 7, the highest since being ranked sixth on Dec. 20, 1999 ... Dixon was named to the Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award watch lists. She was also voted to the media's preseason all-conference team ... Third-year head coach Nikki Caldwell has led the Bruins to the first back-to-back 20 win season in the program's history since 1997-98 and 1998-99... UCLA ranks 7th in the nation in steals per game (12.6) and 17th in rebounding margin (+7.0).
USC (19-12, 10-8)

The Trojans are set to enter their third Women's National Invitational Tournament and first since 2002...They will host UC Santa Barbara at the Galen Center on Thurs., March 17 at 7 p.m. PT...The winner will face the winner of the Nevada/St. Mary's (Calif.) matchup at a to be determined site... The Trojans have a 2-2 record in two previous WNIT appearances...In the Pac-10 Tournament last week, USC defeated Washington State, 78-66 and FR F Cassie Harberts netted 31 points...The Trojans dropped the next matchup with Arizona, 72-61...For her efforts, Harberts was named to the Pac-10 Tourament All-Tournament Team...The squad is led by JR G Briana Gilbreath, an All-Pac-10 and All-Defensive honoree...USC has defeated two ranked teams this season, facing six ranked opponents to-date ... Head coach Michael Cooper is in his second season at USC, last year leading the Women of Troy to 19 wins and just short of postseason play. He landed at USC after a successful career with the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks.
Washington (11-17, 6-12)

The Huskies finished the 2010-11 season with a 58-48 point loss to California in the Pac-10 Tournament...The lone senior, G Sarah Morton finished out her career with her best season in 2010-11, leading the Conference with five assists per game and averaging nine points...Head coach Tia Jackson resigned on Monday, March 14...In the final regular season game against USC on national television, the Huskies rallied from a 15 point deficit to go ahead with 40 seconds left...The game was tied at the end of regulation and the Huskies lost in overtime...JR G/F Kristi Kingma led the way with 16 points and three 3-pointers...UW was hampered by injuries this season. RS JR C Regina Rogers, Williams and SO F Jeneva Anderson all missed time due to injuries. RS-SO F Liz Lay retired after a long history of injuries ... In her fourth season, head coach Tia Jackson welcomes back four starters and eight letterwinners overall ... Washington ended the non-conference slate with a winning record for the first time under Jackson ... JR G/F Kristi Kingma ranks 21st in threes made per game (2.8).
Washington State (8-23, 6-12)

The Cougars finished out the 2010-11 campaign with a loss in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament to USC, 78-66...With 17 points in the game, JR G Jazmine Perkins became just the 13th player in Cougar history to total 1,000 career points...She finishes off her junior season with 1,009 points...The seventh place finish in the Conference is the highest for the Huskies since the 1997-98 season and their six Conference victories are the most since 2000-01... WSU's back-to-back wins on Jan. 8 and 14 were the first time since 2001 WSU had won consecutive Conference games ... Head coach June Daugherty is in her fourth season in Pullman, welcoming back eight letterwinners and four starters. She will rely on a young squad with just two seniors on the roster.
