BOULDER - The University of Colorado track & field team will host its first outdoor meet of the season, the Potts Invitational, this Friday and Saturday, March 18-19, at Potts Field.
The hammer throw and javelin will be the only events contested on Friday, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday's events will start at 11 a.m.
The Buffs return four All-Americans from the 2010 outdoor season: Joe Bosshard (10,000-meter run), Emma Coburn (steeplechase), Shalaya Kipp (steeplechase), Richard Medina (5,000-meter run). Each of those four, along with Christian Thompson, Matt Tebo, Andy Wacker, Adam Salzmann, Eddie Taylor, Alex Von Hagen, Brianne Beemer and three members of the 4x100-meter relay were all-conference performers during the 2010 outdoor campaign for the Buffs.
Colorado will compete against several Front Range schools this weekend. Air Force, Colorado College, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State, Metro State, Northern Colorado, UC-Colorado Springs and Wyoming will make up the field along with several unattached athletes. The invitational is a non-team scoring meet.
The Potts Invite will be the first of two meets CU will host this spring. The Buffs will also host the CU Invite on April 9. Both take place at Potts Field on 30th and Colorado. Admission and parking for the meet are free. Results will be updated online throughout the meet at CUBuffs.com.
The forecast for Friday is a high of 54 degrees and a 50 percent chance of precipitation. Saturday is a high of 64 degrees and a 10 percent chance of precipitation (as of Thursday afternoon).
Should inclement weather force a cancellation of the meet, such notice will be posted on CUBuffs.com as well as a message left on the track and field office voice mail at 303/492-5227.
