USC Women Advance On 67-64 Win Over UCSB
LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The USC women's basketball team tightened up its defense and finally regrouped late in the game for a comeback to win its WNIT First Round game over visiting UC Santa Barbara 67-64 on Thursday night at the Galen Center. The Trojans got into an 11-point hole in the second half before climbing out of it and taking the lead for good in the final 6:20 of action. The victory improves USC to 20-12 overall and puts the Trojans on a path to the WNIT Second Round for a 2 p.m. game at Nevada on Sunday (March 20) in Reno.
California Advances to the WNIT Second Round
The California Golden Bears opened up the 2011 Women's National Invitation Tournament with a 74-60 victory over the Cal Poly Mustangs in San Luis Obispo. Talia Caldwell had her eighth double double of the season with 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Lucet's Career Night Not Enough, Cats Fall
LOGAN, Utah - In the opening round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament, University of Arizona Wildcat women's basketball fell on the road to Utah State, 103-95. Arizona will end the season with a record of 21-12 overall and collected the most wins in a season since the 2003-04 season (24). Utah State advances to 18-14 overall and will face the winner of BYU/Denver on Saturday.
