The Pac-10 celebrates the 2011 softball season as the 25th anniversary of women in sports with 123 NCAA women's team titles and an unrivaled 527 individual championships, the Pac-10 has a lauded heritage in women's sports, with softball playing a major part in that success. Pac-10 teams are set to open up Pac-10 play this weekend. The sixth-ranked Huskies will look to defend their 2010 Pac-10 league title, as they host No. 14/15 OREGON. Friday's game, slated for a 6 p.m. PT start, will be shown tape-delayed on FSN. With seven of the eight Pac-10 squads ranked nationally in both polls, three of the four Pac-10 matchups will feature ranked teams squaring off. No. 4/4 ARIZONA STATE, the highest ranked Pac-10 team, will travel to face No. 10/8 CALIFORNIA, with strong pitching performances promised from ASU'S Hilary Bach and Cal's Jolene Henderson. No. 9/7 ARIZONA visits No. 12/12 STANFORD in what also promises to be an intriguing matchup. OREGON STATE, riding a nine-game winning streak travels to UCLA to take on the 2010 NCAA Champions.
