Wallace Named Big 12 Golfer of the Month

BOULDER-University of Colorado women's golfer Jessica Wallace earned her second Big 12 Golfer of the Month award for March the conference office announced on Wednesday. This Big 12 award is CU's third in just five months.

Wallace finished with identical 216 scores in both the Gator Women's Invitational (March 6-7) and the MountainView Collegiate (March 25-26). The junior finished in a tie for third with at 6-over par in the Gator Invite. With her third place finish, she extended her school record of top five finishes to five straight events. Wallace finished in sixth place at the MountainView, extending her streak of top-10 finishes to eight. The eight straight top 10s is a Colorado record, while the eight overall is a season record and ranks fifth in CU history.

With a 68 in the second round at the Gator, she became the first Buff to go under par in a par-70 tournament, and it was her third round in the 60s this season, matching the Colorado record. In addition, she has compiled one round under par in each event, and now has nine such rounds on the season, tied for the CU season record. She has finished in the top 20 in all nine of her career events, which ranks second for most consecutive top 20 finishes in school history.

As a team, CU finished fourth in both events. At the Gator Women's Invite, CU finished behind No. 34 Florida (host), No. 38 Florida State and No. 30 Ohio State and ahead of No. 11 Iowa State and No. 22 Arkansas plus three other top 50 teams and one other Big 12 team, the top Big 12 team in the east coast power tournament.

The Buffs now head into the post season with a lot to accomplish.  First up is the Buffs' final Big 12 Championship April 22-24, which will be held in Columbia, Mo., where the Buffs finished second in the fall with a lot of Big 12 competition in attendance.  Throughout the season, the Buffs have compiled a 20-5-1 record head to head against Big 12 competition at other tournaments.
