Utah Basketball Hosts Make-A-Wish Foundation Presentation
SALT LAKE CITY - Utah head men's basketball coach Larry Krystkowiak participated in a Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah presentation Tuesday at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Krystkowiak presented Dalton DeVore with a trip to the Bahamas, where he will fulfill his wish to swim with sharks.
DeVore is a 17-year old Salt Lake City native and life-long Ute fan, whose lymphoma is currently in remission. DeVore and his family will head to Atlantis in the Bahamas this July, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"Matching Dalton with Coach Krystkowiak and Utah basketball was a no-brainer," said Krachel Greenwood, a representative from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "Dalton has been a Ute fan his whole life and he grew up playing basketball. This was the perfect way to let Dalton know that his wish had come true."
Several of DeVore's family members and friends attended the surprise presentation. After opening remarks from Greenwood and Krystkowiak, DeVore was presented with an envelope that outlined the fulfillment of his wish.
"The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a great organization and we are proud to work with it," said Krystkowiak. "When we found out about Dalton, and his love for Utah basketball, it was an easy call to get involved. Sometimes we get so caught up in sports, to have an experience like today is eye-opening. We are looking forward to maintaining a relationship with Dalton and his family, and we wish him well in his recovery."
