Arizona Women's Track Shares Lead After Day One

DES MOINES, Iowa - The University of Arizona track and field team got competition underway Wednesday at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, with the women's squad finishing the day with 10 points and a share of the lead in the team competition.

DES MOINES, Iowa - The first day of action at the 2011 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championship Final came to a close at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, on Wednesday night with two members of the Arizona State University track and field team scoring Top 8 finishes in their respective field events and one runner posting the second-fastest time in school history. Overall, seven Sun Devils competed on the first of four days of competition, including six women.

Primm Advances To 800m Final At NCAA Championships

Senior Cory Primm, the top-ranked 800m runner in the nation, moved one step closer to an NCAA title on the opening day of the 2011 NCAA Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, IA as he advanced out of the semifinal rounds. Primm picked up an automatic spot in Friday's final after finishing second in heat one of the semifinals (top 2 in each heat automatically qualify) in a time of 1:47.43. He was eighth overall and will race for UCLA's first outdoor 800m crown on Friday afternoon.

Thompson Advances To 400m Hurdles Final At NCAAs

Sophomore Turquoise Thompson punched her ticket to the finals of the 400m hurdles at the NCAA Championships after qualifying on time during the semifinal rounds. Thompson, running out of lane five, finished third in a very fast heat one with a solid mark of 55.99. She then had to wait for the final two heats to go before her spot in the NCAA final was secure. She was one of the two qualifiers based off of time and had the fourth-fastest time of the day.

Cooper Thompson placed ninth in the men's javelin and Joey Hughes, Josh Mance, Dalilah Muhammad and the women's 4x100m relay team advanced to NCAA finals today (June 8) during the first day of the NCAA Track and Field Championships being held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Ia.

Anderson Will Race for NCAA Hurdles Championship Number Three

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Washington State senior Jeshua Anderson ran a semifinals time of 49.18 seconds to lead the 400m hurdles field and will race for his third national title at the NCAA Track & Field Outdoor Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
