Vollmer Swims to Gold at World Championships
SHANGHAI, China - California alumna Dana Vollmer won a gold medal for the United States in the 100-meter butterfly on the second day of the FINA Long Course World Championships on Monday at the Indoor Stadium in the Oriental Sports Center. In addition, Vollmer combined with fellow former Golden Bear Natalie Coughlin to propel the United States to the silver medal in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay on the first day of the meet.
The gold medal represented Vollmer's first at a FINA World Championships and the first for the United States at this meet.
