Rowe, Richards: Preseason All-Americans

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA sophomore midfielder Kelyn Rowe and WASHINGTON senior forward Brent Richards have been named College Soccer News Preseason All-Americans, the publication announced Friday. Rowe was a first-team selection, and Richards was named to the third team.

Rowe, the 2010 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and an NSCAA Third Team All-American, led the Bruins with 10 assists last season, good for second in the conference. He also ranked second on the squad in points (24) and goals (7). A member of the U.S. Under-20 Na-tional Team, Rowe started for the U.S. at the 2011 CONCACAF Tournament and recorded three goals and one assist in two games.

Richards, a first team All-Pac-10 honoree last season, has led the Huskies in scoring for three seasons. He finished 2010 with eight goals and five assists, including three game-winning goals. Twice named to the Pac-10 All-Academic First Team, Richards earned Academic All-America accolades from both ESPN and the NSCAA last year.

The 2011 Pac-12 season opens August 26-28. UCLA travels to Louisville on August 27 in a rematch of last year's NCAA quar-terfinal game, which the Cardinals won, 5-4. Washington also opens on the road on August 27, facing Gonzaga.
