Leroux Named Pac-12 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. —UCLA forward Sydney Leroux has been named Pac-12 Women's Player of the Week for Aug. 22-29, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.

The senior was named the tournament MVP of the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic this past weekend after helping the Bruins defeat Tennessee and Florida in Knoxville, Tenn. On Friday, Leroux scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over host Tennessee.

The Vancouver, B.C., native then contributed to UCLA's 2-0 upset over No. 8 Florida on Sunday with an insurance goal in the 72nd minute. Leroux has scored in all three of the team's victories this season and leads the team in scoring with six points (3g, 0a).

This is Leroux's third Conference Player of the Week honor and the 28th all-time selection for UCLA.

The Bruins visit Pepperdine Friday for a 3 p.m. PT showdown; then host Rutgers at Drake Stadium at 7 p.m. PT Sunday.
