• Five opponents on this week's schedule participated in the 2010 NCAA Tournament: North Carolina, Maryland, Santa Clara, Connecticut and Georgetown. All five games will be on the road for the Pac-12. California, Oregon State and Stanford head to the East Coast.

• San Diego State SO F Miles Byass earned his first Player of the Week honor after scoring the game-winning goal and adding an assist in the Aztecs' 2-1 win over Canisus. SDSU won its first season-opening game since 2006.

• Cal JR F John Fitzpatrick, the Golden Bears' top returning scorer, provided the offense in the 1-0 win over USF. The Bears started eight new players, including a pair of freshman.

• Head coach Jamie Clark is 1-0 as a Husky after a 3-0 win over Gonzaga. SR MF Jacob Hustedt drew two fouls that led to converted penalty kicks and then assisted on Washington's third goal.

• UCLA opened its season at No. 1 Louisville in front of 7,821 people, the largest crowd ever for a soccer match at Cardinal Park. RS SR GK Brian Rowe made four saves, but the Bruins could not overcome an early goal in each half.

• Oregon State FR MF Will Seymore had one goal on one shot in his collegiate debut, but the Beavers could not overcome Portland.

• UCLA SO MF Kelyn Rowe and Washington SR F Brent Richards earned preseason All-America recognition from College Soccer News. Rowe, a member of the U.S. Under-20 National Team, was a first-team selection. Richards, who has led the Huskies in scoring for three seasons, was named to the third team.

• Rowe also represented the Pac-12 on Soccer America's preseason All-American team. He is also ranked No. 1 on Top Drawer Soccer's "100 Players to Watch" list.

• Richards and UCLA SR MF/D Andy Rose are candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, given to student-athletes who excel both on an off the field. The 30-candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the season. Fans and media will be able to vote at
