Scouting Report: Stanford's Coby Fleener

Coby Fleener
TE, Stanford
6-foot-6, 245 lbs.

Very good height. Can run. Excellent athletic ability. Good competitor. Soft hands. Can catch in traffic. Natural route runner. Can stretch the field vertically. Can make big plays. Very good leaper.

Needs to add more bulk strength. He is a better space blocker than on the line of scrimmage. Needs to play with better leverage at times in order to sustain blocks.

Arguably the best receiving TE in the nation right now. Has the prototype size, speed and hands for the TE position. He is fast into routes and gets in/out of breaks quickly. Understands coverages and works to get open. Has an outstanding pair of hands and can make the great catch. Has ability to extend and catch the poorly thrown ball. Big time red zone threat. He will be a high-round NFL Draft pick with a very promising future at the next level.

Dave Razzano is a former NFL scout with more than 22 years of professional scouting experience with the San Francisco 49ers, St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals under NFL coaches Bill Walsh, George Seifert, Chuck Knox and Dick Vermeil.
