Bank of the West Weekly Volleyball Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Bank of the West Pac-12 Volleyball Players of the Week. USC's Alex Jupiter was voted the Offensive Player of the Week, while Arizona State's Stephanie Preach and Nora Tuioti-Mariner were selected the Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively. The weekly honors reflect performances for the week of Nov. 7-13.

Weekly awards have been selected every week since the Conference began sponsoring women's volleyball in 1986. The offensive, defensive and freshman of the week honors are new for the 2011 campaign.

Senior Alex Jupiter (Paris, France) combined for 30 kills and 41.5 points in sweeps at Oregon State and No. 20 Oregon. In addition to averaging 5.00 kills and 6.92 points per set, she hit .324 with eight service aces, 23 digs (3.83 digs per set) and four blocks (0.67 blocks per set). With the sweeps, the Trojans are the No. 1 team in the nation, according to this week's AVCA Coaches Poll released on Monday. Against OSU, Jupiter tallied 16 kills, three aces, eight digs and a solo block while hitting .289. Against the Ducks, she had 14 kills, hit .367 and posted a career-high five service aces, while also adding 15 digs and three solo blocks.

Sophomore Stephanie Preach (Phoenix, Ariz.) is the first Sun Devil to be named player of the week since Sept. 30, 2002. She had 64 digs in a pair of home victories against Colorado and Utah. Averaging 7.11 digs over the two matches, Preach had 26 against the Buffs and 38 in the five-set thriller against the Utes. She also added three assists in each of the matches. Preach leads the Pac-12 with 5.21 digs per set.

Freshman Nora Tuioti-Mariner (Corona, Calif.) posted double-doubles in each of ASU's victories over the weekend, helping the Sun Devils put together a season-high three-match win streak. Against CU, she had 17 kills and 12 digs, also adding a pair of blocks. She followed up with 19 kills and 13 digs in the five-set win over Utah. Tuioti-Mariner averaged 4.00 kills, 2.78 digs, 0.44 blocks and 4.22 points per set.

It is the first offensive player of the week honor for Jupiter this season and the third weekly Conference honor of her career. It is the 49th all-time selection for USC. Preach is ASU's 15th all-time selection and Tuioti-Mariner is the first-ever Sun Devil awarded freshman of the week.

The new No. 1 team in the country, the Trojans host the Sun Devils and Arizona this weekend, Nov. 18 and 19.
