UCLA Makes 39th NCAA Tournament

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA was selected to the field of 48 for the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship, the NCAA announced Monday. The Bruins will be vying for the opportunity to play in the 2011 NCAA Men's College Cup, to be held December 9 and 11 at Regions Park in Hoover, Ala.

The Pac-12 Champion and 13th-seeded Bruins (15-4-1) make their 29th straight and 39th all-time appearance in the Tournament, the second most in NCAA history. UCLA received a first-round bye and hosts the winner of the Delaware-Virginia match in the second round on Sunday, November 20, at 7 p.m. PT at Drake Stadium. The Bruins have been crowned NCAA Champi-ons four times - 1985, 1990, 1997 and 2002 - and have advanced to the College Cup 12 times, most recently in 2006. Junior forward Chandler Hoffman finished the regular season leading the Pac-12 in points (34) and goals (15). The Bruins finished Conference play with a perfect 10-0-0 record and have all 11 starters from last year's squad that advanced to the 2010 NCAA Quarterfinals.
