JR F Chandler Hoffman scored two goals and SO F Victor Chavez added another as Pac-12 Champion and No. 13 seed UCLA defeated Rutgers 3-0 in the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Hoffman scored just 41 seconds into the match to put the Bruins up early. Chavez struck before halftime to give UCLA a 2-0 lead at the break. Hoffman then added his second goal in the 49th minute. Pac-12 Player of the Year SO MF Kelyn Rowe recorded two assists in the game to bring his season total to 10.

Hoffman was named to the Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News National Teams of the Week for his performance against Rutgers. His 18 goals are the most by a Bruin since Joe-Max Moore had 18 in 1991, and his 40 points are the most since Seth George had 42 in 1997.

With seven straight shutouts, UCLA is one shy of tying the school record for consecutive games without allowing a goal. The Bruins have not allowed a goal in 646 minutes dating back to October.

UCLA will now travel to face No. 12 seed Louisville in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday, December 3 at 7 p.m. ET. It will be a rematch of last year's quarterfinal game, which the Cardinals won 5-4 to advance to the College Cup. The Bruins also opened the 2011 season at Louisville, falling 2-0. UCLA is seeking its 13th trip to the College Cup and first since 2006.

This is UCLA's 29th straight and 39th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won four national titles (1985, 1990, 1997 and 2002).

The 2011 MLS Cup on Nov. 20 between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo featured 12 players from Pac-12 schools. The LA Galaxy, who won 1-0, have 10 former Pac-12 players on the roster: Sean Alvarado (UCLA), Chad Barrett (UCLA), Todd Dunivant (Stanford), Frankie Hejduk (UCLA), Hector Jimenez (Cal), Bryan Jordan (Oregon State), Brian Perk (UCLA), Josh Saunders (Cal), Michael Stephens (UCLA) and Ryan Thomas (Stanford). Calen Carr (Cal) and Tally Hall (San Diego State) both played for the Dynamo.
