Richards Repeats As Scholar All-American

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - WASHINGTON senior forward Brent Richards was a repeat selection to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Men's Collegiate Scholar All-America Team, the organization announced Tuesday. In addition, Richards and seven other Pac-12 men's soccer players were named to the 2011 NSCAA University Division Scholar All-West Region Team.

Richards, the 2011 Pac-12 Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the year, earned first team honors for the second straight year. He was also named a Capital One Academic All-American earlier this month. Richards carries a 3.75 GPA in Business. He leaves Washington as one of the most decorated players in school history. In each season with the program, Richards led the Huskies in goals, assists, shots, game-winning goals and points.

A total of eight Pac-12 players were selected to the All-West Region Team. Richards and teammate Jamie Finch, a senior defender, were named to the first team. OREGON STATE junior defender Travis Anderson, senior midfielder John Swenson and junior midfielder Jacob Parker were second-team selections along with STANFORD junior defender Hunter Gorskie, junior midfielder Dersu Abolfathi and senior forward Garrett Gunther.
