Pac-12 Baseball Racks Up All-America Nods

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Seven Pac-12 student-athletes have been named to the Baseball America 2012 Preseason All-America Team, as released by Baseball America on Monday, while 14 Conference student-athletes have been named to's 2012 Preseason All-American Team, as released by on Monday.

Representing the Pac-12 on Baseball America's preseason All-America first team are CALIFORNIA 2B Tony Renda, STANFORD 3B Stephen Piscotty, ARIZONA STATE SS Deven Marrero and Cardinal RHP Mark Appel. Stanford SS Kenny Diekroeger and ASU RHP Jake Barrett are on the second team, and ASU RHP Brady Rodgers is a third-team selection. Marrero, Appel and Diekroeger are three of the six repeat members of Baseball America's preseason All-America teams. Marrero is the sole unanimous first-team selection. placed Marrero and OREGON STATE relief pitcher Tony Bryant on its preseason All-American first team. Renda, Diekroeger, Appel and UCLA RHP Adam Plutko are on the second team. The following student-athletes are honorable mentions: ASU IF Joey DeMichele, ARIZ SS Alex Mejia, Stanford's Stephen Piscotty, UTAH OF Shaun Cooper, Arizona OF Joey Rickard, Arizona RHP Kurt Heyer, Cal LHP Justin Jones and ASU's Brady Rodgers.
