HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The University of Colorado volleyball team swept the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 25-14, 25-20, 25-21, on Saturday morning at the Sam Houston Invitational winning its second straight match to start the season.

With the win, the Buffs improved to 2-0 on the season, while the Ragin' Cajuns fell to 0-2.

Sophomore Emily Alexis led the Buffs with a match-high 13 kills in the victory, but once again it was an all-around team effort. Nikki Lindow hammered nine kills and Alexis Austin recorded eight. Kelsey English, who led the Buffs on Friday night against Texas Southern, notched six kills and Emily Todd and Nicole Edelman each tallied four kills. Edelman directed the team to a .362 hitting efficiency, with 49 kills and 15 errors on 94 attacks. Edelman had 38 of CU's 47 assists.

Austin had one block solo and two block assists, while Neira Ortiz Ruiz added one solo and one assist. Lindow led the squad with four block assists.

The Ragin' Cajuns took a 4-2 lead to start the match, but then CU put together a 6-0 run to go up 8-4. The Buffs continued to fire away and increased their lead to 12-7, forcing UL to use a timeout. UL took the next point, but CU followed up by taking the following five points for a 17-8 advantage. The Buffs didn't let up and were able to finish the set 25-14. They hit a scotching .417 with 12 kills and just two errors on 24 swings and held Louisiana to a .091 hitting percentage.

The Buffs took a 7-4 lead in the second set and increased it to 17-9. The Ragin' Cajuns tried to bounce back and took seven of the next 10 points to get within four points (20-16) when CU called a timeout. It worked and CU took the following point to go back up by five. The set continued to remain close as UL used a 3-1 run to cut the score to 22-19. The Buffs won the next two points with kills from Lindow and Alexis to get to set point (24-19). UL fought off the first point, but Alexis fired back with another kill to close the set 25-20.

The third set started close and was tied 6-6 until CU put together a 6-1 run to take a 12-7 lead. The two teams traded off points until UL put together two straight to get within three at 15-12. The Ragin' Cajuns pushed more and closed the gap to a pair of points at 16-14, forcing CU to use a timeout. English recorded a kill out of the break, but UL took the ball right back. Again the two teams traded off points until the Buffs took two in a row, taking a 20-16 advantage. After a UL timeout CU extended its lead back to five (24-19) and was looking to close the match. The Ragin' Cajuns fought off the first two points, but Todd ended the match with a kill for the Buffs (25-21).
