SAN FRANCISCO - Pac-12 Networks unveiled its new iPad app today, further establishing its leadership in TV Everywhere technology and digital sports media. The new app - Pac-12 Now - offers fans the ability to watch all seven live Pac-12 TV Networks through TV everywhere online at Pac-12.com and now on the iPad.
Pac-12 Now is the latest and most significant step in Pac-12 Networks' commitment to building out state-of-the-art technology infrastructure to serve its high-quality content across all platforms.
"Today is a game changer in our ability to deliver our content to Pac-12 fans," says Gary Stevenson, President of Pac-12 Enterprises. "With Pac-12 Now for iPad, we are one step closer to achieving our goal of connecting fans with our live programming and feature content when and where they choose to access it."
Pac-12 Now is available on the Web at Pac-12.com and for iPad on the App Store. At present, millions of sub-scribers to Time Warner Cable, Cox, and Bright House can log in to view Pac-12 Networks broadcast channels. Pac-12 Networks is working with Comcast, Frontier, Suddenlink, BendBroadband, and other distributors to enable access for their subscribers later this fall.
"We're working as quickly as possible with our distributor partners to expand the availability of Pac-12 Now," said Stevenson. "We look forward to putting this technology in the hands of more fans across the country as the college football season unfolds."
Starting this weekend with the kickoff of college football, fans with TV Everywhere access through their TV provider can watch Pac-12 Networks live on their iPad. Fans can view all seven networks, switch between mul-tiple live events, and enjoy coverage not available on their regional television network.
Week one college football action includes Cal hosting Nevada as it opens the new and improved Memorial Stadium, as well as Washington hosting high-octane San Diego State and Stanford hosting San Jose State. Fans can personalize their experience by sorting Pac-12 Networks live and video on demand content by uni-versity, sport, and by Network.
In addition to the live action, fans will have access to an unprecedented amount of video content produced by Pac-12 Networks and our member universities, including highlights, feature stories, game recaps, and exclusive Pac-12 Now video content. Pac-12 Now also features an electronic programming guide and gives fans the ability to share what they watch with their social networks.
Pac-12 Digital worked closely with Ooyala, an innovator in personalized video technology, to develop Pac-12 Now. The two companies are building unique, cutting edge fan experiences across all devices. The iPad app will be followed this fall with new apps for iPhone and Android, allowing more fans to watching Pac-12 Net-works on the go, with additional devices to come in the future.
