A Look Ahead
Stanford will be the home of two major volleyball showdowns this week on the Pac-12 Networks.
It begins tonight when the No. 4 Cardinal hosts No. 6 USC at Maples Pavilion at 7 p.m. Stanford is tied with Washington atop the conference standings with a 6-0 record (14-2 overall). The Trojans, meanwhile, will try to close the gap in the Pac-12 race. USC is 4-2 in conference play and 16-2 overall.
Then on Friday, No. 7 UCLA pays a visit to The Farm. The Bruins are ranked No. 7 in this week's AVCA Coaches Top 25 and are also 4-2 in Pac-12 play (12-3 overall).
That's two of three top-10 showdowns in the Pac-12 this week. On Saturday, No. 2 Washington visits No. 5 Oregon at 7 p.m. That match will be streamed live on Pac-12.com.
In total, there will be 10 volleyball matches on the Pac-12 Networks this week.
In football, Cal will try to carry over the momentum it generated from its impressive 43-17 win over then-No. 25 UCLA last weekend when it travels to the Palouse to visit Washington State. The Cougars are looking for their first Pac-12 victory after a tough start to the conference schedule that included games against nationally ranked foes Oregon and Oregon State. The Bears, meanwhile, picked up their first Pac-12 win over the Bruins and are now 2-4, 1-2 in the conference.
In women's soccer, some of the teams in the middle of the pack in the Pac-12 standings will try to make some headway in the conference race this week. Washington State, at 2-2-1 in the Pac-12, hosts USC Friday at 1 p.m. on the networks. The Cougars are currently tied for fourth place in the conference standings along with Washington. Also this week, No. 2 Stanford puts its perfect 5-0-0 Pac-12 record on the line against at Arizona on Thursday night at 7 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks.
Finally in men's soccer, Washington will be featured twice this weekend on the networks. The Huskies, who are 1-0-1 in Pac-12 play and 6-3-2 overall, host Cal at 3 p.m. on Friday and Stanford on Sunday at Noon.
