A Look Ahead
With a volleyball conference like the Pac-12, you find yourself with at least one marquee matchup pretty much every week, and sometimes more. Things are no different this week when No. 2 Stanford visits No. 5 Washington on Friday night at 6 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks.
That's one of nine volleyball matches being aired on the networks this week, and one of eight live events being shown on Friday alone.
The freshmen-laded Cardinal has emerged as the frontrunner in the conference standings after an impressive sweep of USC and UCLA last week. The Huskies, meanwhile, were the final undefeated team in the country remaining before losing at Oregon on Saturday. Washington and Oregon are tied for second place in the Pac-12, one game behind Stanford.
Other highlights of what's airing on the Pac-12 Networks this week:
- A doubleheader of football on Saturday, beginning with Colorado visiting No. 11 USC at 3 p.m. The Trojans are in the thick of the race in the Pac-12 South, entering the week one-half game behind Arizona State. Then at 7 p.m., Washington visits Arizona in a battle of two teams trying to move up the ladder in their respective divisions.
- In women's soccer, viewers will twice be treated to the No. 2 team in the country in Stanford. The Cardinal, which is a perfect 6-0-0 and 12-1-1 overall, hosts Washington State on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Washington on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. The Cougars, in fourth place at 3-2-1, still have hopes of making some noise in the Pac-12 race. Both of the Huskies' matches this week will air on the networks, as they also visit Cal on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
- Washington's men's soccer team will also be prominently featured this week. The Huskies, who have moved into first place in the Pac-12 standings, visit Cal on Friday at 1 p.m. and Stanford on Sunday at 3 p.m.
