Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tip-off

Oct 22, 2012

It's time for the first conference media day in the downtown San Francisco office, and women's basketball gets to set the precedent. The beginning of the college basketball season is just two and a half weeks away, and many Pac-12 teams are poised to make a big splash in 2012-13. With 12 athletes and 12 coaches in the house, here are a few things I'm going to be keeping an ear out for:

  • Utah's Taryn Wicijowski could have also played Division I hockey- what made her choose basketball?
  • Stanford's Chiney Ogwumike was part of a gold medal FIBA 3-on-3 team in Greece this past summer. What was it like to play a different brand of basketball, alongside a couple of women from teams with which Stanford will contend for the national championship no less?
  • Washington State made a surprising run to the Pac-12 Tournament semifinals as a No. 11 seed. How can the Cougars build on that success for 2012-13?
  • Cal had an impressive 2011-12 that ended with a run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. With nearly everyone returning, what is the key for Lindsay Gottlieb's group to take the next step?

That's just a glimpse of some of the topics to be covered today in San Francisco. Keep coming back to the Pac-12 Post throughout the day for updates!
