Buffs Place 19 On MPSF All-Academic Team

WOODLAND, Calif. -The University of Colorado's track and field team placed 19 student-athletes on the 2013 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic teams, announced on Friday by MPSF Executive Director Al Beaird.

Nikki Look and Rachel Viger led the Buffs with a pair of 4.0 grade point averages. Look, a senior, will graduate this spring with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics and has received a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship as she will attend medical school in the fall. Viger is a redshirt sophomore majoring in chemical engineering.

The women placed a total of 12 on the team. Sophomore Bridget Sweeney had the third highest GPA amongst the Buffs with a 3.818 and is an open major. Junior Diana George, a mechanical engineering major, was very close to the top with a 3.794. Other Buffs honored for their academic success were: Brianne Beemer, Courtney Bouchet, Emma Coburn, Kelsey English, Lindsey Hubbard, Lindsy Mattson, Holly Odneal, Gwen Ricco, Jana Stolting and Elizabeth Tremblay.

The men were led by senior Matt Biegner, who has recorded a 3.593 GPA while majoring in finance and political science. He was joined by Cameron Hutchins, Mark Jones, Ryan Savercool and Blake Theroux.

To be chosen for this distinction, honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00, must be a sophomore academically, must have completed at least one academic year with their institution, and must have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's competition.
