WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- The Pac-12 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of April 1-7, 2013:

Men's Track Athlete of the Week: AARON BROWN, USC (Jr., Toronto, Canada.). Brown won the men's 100-meter dash at the Florida Relays with a wind-aided time (2.1) of 10.15 (10.143), edging Virginia Tech's Darrell Wesh (10.146). Including wind-aided marks, that is the third fastest time by a collegian. It was Brown's first official 100-meter race of the season and nearly bettered his PR of 10.18, except for the overage of wind. Running in his first 200-meter race of the season, Brown won his heat and placed second overall with a time of 20.64. Florida's Dedric Dukes won with a time of 20.38, which is the fastest time by a collegian this season, with Brown's time being the second fastest.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week: SHAPRI ROMERO, ARIZONA (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.). Romero had a hand in four victories on the day. She began by running the second leg of 4x100-meter relay, posting a time of 44.76, the No. 4 time in UA history and tied for 16th in the country. She went on to win the 400-meter race with a personal-best time of 52.37, the fastest time in the country and ninth-best in the world. It also meets the USA Championships "A" Standard. She won the 200-meter race with a personal-best time of 23.50, the fifth-fastest time in school history and No. 22 in the country this year. Lastly, Romero opened up for the 4x400-meter relay where the team won with a season-best time of 3:33.32, ranked 10th in the country this year.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week: EDGAR RIVERA-MORALES, ARIZONA (Sr., Agua Prieta, Mexico). Rivera-Morales took second place in the men's high jump competition on at the Jim Click Shootout with a season-best mark of 7-3.75 (2.23m). That mark is the fifth-best jump in the country on the year.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week: CHRISTABEL NETTEY, ARIZONA STATE (Sr., British Columbia, Canada.). Nettey knocked off one of Arizona State's longest-standing school records at the 34th Sun Angel Classic, scoring a career-best long jump of 6.75m (22-01.75) for the top mark in the nation. The previous school record was 6.62m (21-08.75), set by Jacinta Bartholomew way back in 1989. Nettey had four jumps on the day that were better than that mark in an incredible field series that featured six legal jumps. The worst one was 6.49m, a mark that would have ranked fourth in the nation currently. Nettey hit the 6.75m mark twice in the series in a competition that featured a rematch of the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships with Kansas' two-time NCAA Champion Andrea Geubelle. Nettey's leap matched the Sun Angel Stadium record set back in 1983. Nettey's mark was the third-best jump in Pac-12 history. She also clocked a new career best of 13.42 second in the 100-meter hurdles for the eighth-best time in ASU history and the 23rd-best time nationally this year.
