WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- The Pac-12 Conference will be well represented at the NCAA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships next week. League squads earned 48 men's entries and 74 women's entries at the NCAA West Regional Championships that took place last weekend in Austin, Texas. The 2013 national championship is being hosted by OREGON at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.
The 48 men's entries ranks fourth among all conferences, nationally, while the 74 women's entries is second most. OREGON leads all Pac-12 teams in men's and women's entries, with 13 and 15, respectively. The 15 women's entries are tied for the second most of any team in country.
Nine of the 10 men's squads will be represented at the NCAA championships, and 11 of the 12 women's Pac-12 teams have at least one entry for the NCAA championships. ARIZONA (12), STANFORD (10) and USC (10) also earned double-digit women's entries, in addition to the Ducks' 15.
The participants in individual and relay events qualified through competition at preliminary round sites held May 24-26 in Greensboro, N.C., and Austin, Texas. The top 24 in each event based on performance at the regional championships earned a spot at the national championships. Combined events participants qualified prior to the regional competition and will compete for the first time in Eugene.
