See you at football media day: Cal's Nick Forbes

Jul 8, 2013

While most of the preseason focus has been on new head coach Sonny Dykes and his Bear Raid offense, Cal's defense also is undergoing a transformation to a 4-3 base scheme. Junior linebacker Nick Forbes, the Golden Bears' Most Improved Player a year ago, will be asked to lead by example as the team enters a new era.

During the 2012 season Forbes saw his first extended time on the field, playing in all 12 games including eight starts. He was second on the team with 85 tackles for the year, trailing senior Josh Hill by just two tackles.  Forbes, a native of Frederick, Md.,  finished 11th in the conference with an average of 7.1 stops per game and collected a team-high three of Cal's nine total fumble recoveries last year.

Forbes also shined in The Big Game, collecting a career-high 13 tackles against rival Stanford.
