See you at football media day: Marcus Mariota

Jul 10, 2013

Yet again, expectations in Eugene are sky-high for the Ducks. Head coach Mark Helfrich has some big shoes to fill with the departure of Chip Kelly, but confidence remains high as Marcus Mariota returns as the man under center for Oregon. Some experts have argued that Mariota may be the best quarterback in the land. He certainly gives Ducks fans reason to eye a Pac-12 Championship and generate national championship buzz.

The redshirt sophomore saw his first time on the field for Oregon in 2012 and made quite the impression. Mariota led the Ducks to a 12-1 season including a 35-17 win over Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl. In the process, the Honolulu native wracked up 2,677 passing yards, 37 total touchdowns and an average of 263.8 yards of total offense per game.
