UCLA rowers Britta Syverson and Aleda Kawalek will compete at the upcoming 2013 Under 23 World Championships in Linz, Austria from July 24-28.

In addition, UCLA women's rowing assistant coach Justin Price will travel to Austria as the coach of the U.S. men's four with coxswain (M4+).

Syverson will represent the United States at the U23 World Championship for the third consecutive year. Syverson, who was a senior at UCLA in 2012-13, was a three-time All-America selection and All-Pac-12 Conference honoree for the Bruins. Syverson will compete for the United States in the quadruple scull event (4x).

Kawalek, a rising sophomore on the UCLA women’s rowing team, will represent Canada in the women’s eight (W8+). This is her first year on the U23 Canadian National Team after having represented Canada at the 2011 Junior World Championships in the women’s 4-.

Syverson and Kawalek were strong contributors to UCLA’s success in 2012-13, helping the Bruins secure a ninth place overall finish at NCAA Championships in Indianapolis.
