16th Oregon Public Links Championship Leaderboard

CORVALLIS, Ore. Oregon State sophomore Ashlee Pickerell won the Women’s Division at the 16th Oregon Public Links Championship in Cornelius, Ore., on Sunday.

Pickerell, who transferred to Oregon State from Tennessee midway through her freshman season, shot a 4-over 76-72--148 at the par-72, 5,593-yard Forest Hills Golf Club. She was tied for third place after Saturday’s opening round but fired an even-par 72 in the final round to take the individual title.

Kate Hildahl and Shu-Yin Liu, both from Tualatin, tied for second place with a 5-over 149.

Pickerell had six birdies in the 36-hole event, with three in each round, but stayed away from the big numbers on Sunday when she had three bogeys and 12 pars. She played the five par-5’s in 1 under over the two days, which helped her claim the title.

A native of Salem, Pickerell returns to Oregon State this upcoming season as a sophomore to give the Beavers a talented and experienced lineup that includes seniors Lauren Sewell and Seshia Telles, junior Anica Yoo and sophomore Chelsea Saelee.
