Cross Country Opener Cancelled

Aug 29, 2013

UCLA's 2013 cross country season will begin later than anticipated, as the teams' scheduled opener on Friday, Aug. 30 in Reno, Nev. has been cancelled.

The Bruins were slated to open the year at the Nevada Chase Invitational, but the race was cancelled due to unhealthy air conditions in Reno stemming from the 301-square-mile Rim Fire near Yosemite.

UCLA's next scheduled meet is the Mustang Challenge on Sept. 21 in Santa Clarita.

The UCLA men's cross country team earned a preseason national ranking of No. 13 and a regional ranking of No. 2. The Bruin women rank No. 7 in the West Region.
