Pac-12 men’s water polo scores for Saturday, Sept. 7
SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – Led by senior captain Collin Smith’s four goals, the No. 4-ranked California men’s water polo team opened the 2013 season with a dominating 21-3 victory over Redlands Saturday (Sept. 7) at the Triton Invitational in San Diego. The Golden Bears had 12 different players score, including true freshmen Thomas Carroll and Chandler Jarrels-Stickney with three and two goals, respectively.
SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The No. 4 ranked Cal men’s water polo team went 2-0 during the first day of the Triton Invitational, defeating host UC San Diego, 13-10, in a late afternoon match, after dominating Redlands, 21-3, earlier in the day. Senior attacker Hunter Gettelfinger paced the Golden Bears with four goals against the Tritons, while junior goalie Jon Sibley had an impressive 14 saves.
Third-ranked Stanford men's water polo registered a pair of victories Saturday at the Bruno Fall Classic Saturday in Providence, R.I., defeating the 16th-ranked host Brown Bears 23-3 in the morning before downing Harvard 17-5 in the afternoon.
LOS ANGELES — The No. 2 UCLA men's water polo team opened the 2013 season with a pair of lopsided victories at the UCLA Invitational today at Spieker Aquatics Center. After a pair of exhibition games against MPSF foes in the morning, the Bruins posted a 17-4 win over Pomona-Pitzer in the afternoon and then a 19-2 win in the nightcap against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
LA JOLLA, CALIF. — The top-ranked USC men's water polo team got a running start to its 2013 campaign as the owners of five straight national titles cruised through two opponents on day one of the Triton Invitational. The two opening wins tack on to the Trojans' growing win streak, which now is up to 33 in a row dating back to USC's 2011 NCAA Championship run. Today in La Jolla, USC kicked things off with a 19-5 win over Cal Baptist before delivering a 21-7 win over LMU.
