Wildcats Sweep Previously Unbeaten Butler, 3-0

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona junior tandem of Madi Kingdon and Jane Croson combined for 29 kills to help lift the Wildcats past previously undefeated Butler, 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-20), Friday night inside McKale Center.

Arizona State Moves Past Seattle, 3-0

SPOKANE, Wash. — Arizona State volleyball continued with the momentum in the opening game of the Gonzaga Invitational with a 3-0 (25-13, 28-26, 25-15) against Seattle University Friday evening.

Bears Sweep Third Straight Opponent To Start 2013

OMAHA, Neb. – Cal’s women’s volleyball team won’t win any awards for its artistic performance Friday, but the Bears still ended the afternoon with another sweep. Cal got offensive production from Christina Higgins and Adrienne Gehan and pulled away during the second half of each set to register a 25-17, 25-20, 25-20 victory over South Florida during the first day of action at the Bluejay Invitational.

Buffs Start Candlewood Suites Invite With Two Wins

SYRACUSE, N.Y.— The University of Colorado volleyball team swept Stony Brook and Oakland to win its first two matches at the Candlewood Suites Invitational on Friday. The Buffs defeated Stony Brook 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-14) to start the day and came back in the afternoon to take down Oakland 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-22).

Ducks Drop Four-Setter to Spartans

East Lansing, Mich. – The No. 12 Oregon volleyball (3-2) team fell in four sets (25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21) to No. 20 Michigan State (4-1) in the Ducks’ first top-25 matchup of the season.

Oregon State Volleyball Suffers First Loss Of 2013 Season

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Laura Schaudt finished with 14 kills and Becky Defoe tallied 20 digs but the Oregon State volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to No. 7 Michigan Friday night at Cliff Keen Arena. Set scores were 18-25, 14-25, 25-22 and 13-25.

10th-Ranked Bruins Spread the Wealth in Sweep of New Mexico State

HONOLULU, Hawai’i — Nine different Bruins recorded kills on Friday, including a match-best 10 from junior Karsta Lowe, who hit .533 with only two errors in 15 attempts to go with four blocks, as #10 UCLA swept New Mexico State, 25-15, 25-22, 25-12 at the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic.

No. 3 Women of Troy Top TCU in Four-Set Thriller

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The third-ranked USC women's volleyball team (4-0) rose to the challenge and held off TCU (3-2) in four sets (25-9, 25-18, 24-26, 28-26) at the Al McGuire Center on Friday, Sept. 6, in the Marquette Challenge. Sophomore outside hitter Samantha Bricio carried the Women of Troy to victory with a match-high 23.0 points on 16 kills (5e, 40att) and six service aces to go with two blocks. Bricio also had 15 digs to log the first Trojan double-double of the year.

No. 3 Trojans Clip Eagle Wings in 3-0 Sweep of Marquette

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Behind strong performances from its outside hitters, the third-ranked USC women's volleyball team defeated host Marquette in three sets, 25-16, 25-19, 25-14, in the Marquette Challenge at Al McGuire Center on Friday, Sept. 6. The Women of Troy remained undefeated (5-0) as the Golden Eagles fell to 1-2. Trojan freshman outside hitter Ebony Nwanebu hit .320 as she led all players with 10 kills (2e, 25att) in the match.

Utah Volleyball Picks Up Two Wins to Start North Texas Invitational

DENTON, Texas — The University of Utah volleyball team hit .271 while holding its opponents to a .155 mark in two matches at the North Texas Invitational on Friday in the Mean Green Volleyball Center. The Utes defeated Texas State, 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21), in the afternoon before downing the host Mean Green, 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 25-16), in the nightcap.

Volleyball Takes Round One With Canada

SEATTLE – It may have been an exhibition and the box score won’t be entered into the record books, but the Husky volleyball team certainly played like this was as big a match as any other on its schedule, taking down the Canadian National Team in four sets at KeyArena. The thrilling finish whet the appetite of the 1,072 fans in attendance, as the next volleyball action they see on the KeyArena floor will be the NCAA semifinals and finals this December.

Volleyball Wins Pair at Cougar Challenge Tourney

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State volleyball team swept Texas Tech in Friday’s night cap at the Cougar Challenge Tournament before 645 fans in Bohler Gym. The Cougars remained undefeated on the season at 5-0 after the 25-19, 25-22, 25-20 defeat of Texas Tech (5-2) and an earlier 25-21, 25-11, 25-19 win over Eastern Washington.
