Men's Tennis Team Well Represented in ITA Preseason Rankings

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA men's tennis team has five singles players and one doubles team listed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) preseason rankings for the upcoming 2013-14 season.

The Bruins have five players ranked in singles led by junior Marcos Giron, who checks in at No. 6 nationally. He ended last season listed at No. 13, earning All-America honors in singles. Also listed in the top 20 for UCLA is senior Adrien Puget at No. 13. Dennis Mkrtchian (#45), Clay Thompson (#74) and Karue Sell (#104) round out the group of Bruins with preseason singles rankings.

UCLA has one team ranked in the top 60 nationally in doubles, as Puget and Sell check in tied for 20th.

In the ITA's Freshman/Newcomer Rankings, incoming recruit Mackenzie McDonald is ranked No. 1, followed by fellow incoming freshman Gage Brymer at No. 4.

UCLA's first event of the season will be the ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Prequalifying for that event kicks off on Sept. 28 at the University of Oklahoma's Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Selections for the tournament can be found HERE.
