Wildcats Train for Hawaii

Sep 17, 2013

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona soccer completed practice Tuesday night at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium. The Cats are prepping for their final non-conference match vs. Hawaii Fri. Sept., 20 at 7 p.m.

Below are assistant coach Paul Nagy and Sheaffer Skadsen’s comments following practice:

Assistant coach Paul Nagy:

What are your thoughts going into practice this week after the Cats Classic?

“It’s another chance for us to get better. We have all week to prepare for our match on Friday. We have to take the weekend in to consideration and watch the video to see how the girls performed. We keep progressing as a team and that’s what we hope to do each week.”

Is there anything specific you will work on in practice this week?
“Our defense. We started practice today with the defensive side since it’s been a foundation for us all year. We were defending today and really working on our preparation for Hawaii.”

Sophomore Sheaffer Skadsen:

How did the first loss of the season affect your team?

“It inspired us for the next matches. Losing is never fun but you learn from it and we’ll figure out what we need to do better for the upcoming games.”

Is there anything specific you think your team needs to work on?

“We have the heart and desire to win we just need to focus on the detail and be able to get the ball up and finish it.”

How has your role changed on the team from last year to this year?

“It has changed immensely. Last year I didn’t see that much time on the field but this year I hope to make an impact and do my role for the team and make a difference.”
