Cats Train for Oregon

Oct 8, 2013

TUCSON, Ariz. Arizona soccer completed practice Tuesday night at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium. The Wildcats travel to Oregon to take on Oregon State on Fri., Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. and Oregon on Sun., Oct. 13 at 12 p.m. The match vs. Oregon State will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

Below are Head Coach Tony Amato and junior transfer Alexandra Doller’s comments following practice:

Head Coach Tony Amato:

On thoughts of team after tough conference games:

“We played very hard and something that stood out to me was that we fought back. Especially playing against Stanford, they are a No. 2 team in the country and we went there and took them into overtime. The thing that stood out the most was that our performance was better than it had been in the beginning of the season so we’re definitely proud of that.”

On focus of practice this week:

“We always take a look at our opponents and come up with a game plan. We obviously want to get better from the week before but the biggest thing is looking at who we’re playing.”

Junior Alexandra Doller:

On thoughts of team this season:

“The team has been working very hard and we’re doing well but we need to work harder to get the end results we want.”

On what team needs to improve on most:

“Finishing our chances we get. Once we do that we will be able to get back on our winning streak.”

On team mentality against ranked opponents:

“When you’re playing ranked opponents it makes you want to work harder even though we always work hard. Our mentality is to win and play a great game.”
