Oct 10, 2013

TIBURON, Calif. – Campbell Johnson – the last Golden Bear still standing at the $100,000 First Republic Bank Tiburon Challenger – lost with partner Malcolm Harrison to the duo of Carsten Ball and Denys Molchanov, 6-2, 6-4, in Thursday’s main draw quarterfinal round at the Tiburon Peninsula Club.

Johnson, a senior, and Harrison, a former Northwest Missouri State star, posted two earlier victories in Tiburon. The tandem beat Alan and Andy Chang first in the qualifying doubles final, 6-2, 7-6(3), and then defeated the same opponents again, 6-2, 6-2, in the main draw’s opening round of 16.

The 41st-ranked player in the ITA preseason singles poll, Johnson will join his teammates competing in the Battle in the Bay Classic from Friday through Sunday in San Francisco.
