Jackson, Wright Lead Purple To A 5-2 Win

EDMONDS, Wash. -- Second baseman Matt Jackson had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run to lead the Purple squad to a 5-2 win in the first game of the Purple & Gold World Series at Triton Field on the campus of Edmonds Community College.

Purple starter Zach Wright did not allow a run and allowed one hit over four innnings in the seven-inning affair to earn the win.

The Purple team plated two runs in the fourth inning to hang the loss on Black team starter Trevor Dunlap. They would add three more in the fifth off reliever Mack Gaul.

First baseman Trevor Mitsui had two hits and drove in two runs for Purple. Teammate Duncan Hendrickson added a pair of hits.

The Black team plated two runs in the sixth inning off reliever Troy Rallings, but Dae Yang Kim got the final out of the sixth and finished out the game in the seventh.

Four members of the Black squad collected hits. Freshman Kyle London was 1 for 1 with a walk, double and run scored.

Monday's game is the first of four that wrap up fall practices. The series continues Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. at Titon Field. The third game is Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Titon Field, with the final game coming at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Everett's Memorial Stadium.
