Men’s Tennis to Compete in ITA Regionals

TUCSON, Ariz. Once again, the Arizona men’s tennis team will be hitting the road on their fall tennis circuit as they travel to Malibu, Calif. for the ITA Southwest Regionals on Friday.

The tournament will run Friday, Oct. 18 through Tuesday, Oct. 22 and will feature four players from the program.

Seniors Fredrik Ask and Kieren Thompson will lead the way along with junior Sumeet Shinde and sophomore Naoki Takeda.

Ask most recently finished third at the Aztec Invitational and has accumulated a record of 3-2 so far this fall. Takeda also competed in the Aztec Invitational, going 1-1 to bring his fall record up to 2-3.

Both Thompson and Shinde are 3-2 this fall with both having 1-1 performances in the ITA All-American Championships earlier in October.

Pepperdine University will host the tournament, which features the nation’s top players from the Southwest Region, an area encompassing southern Calif., southern Ariz, and Hawaii.
