Buffs Tabbed To Finish Third In Pac-12 Preseason Poll

Oct 17, 2013

SAN FRANCISCO – The University of Colorado men’s basketball team are picked to finish third overall in the 2013-14 Pac-12 Conference men’s basketball race, according to a poll of media members who cover Pac-12 men’s basketball.

The Buffaloes received one first place vote and finished one vote behind second place and defending regular season champion UCLA, who also received a first place vote. Arizona was selected first and received 21 first place votes.

The predicted winner has not won the league the past three years and four of the past five years.

This is CU’s highest preseason placing since they were selected sixth in the Big 12 Conference back in 2003-04.

Reigning Pac-12 Tournament champion Oregon is slotted fourth in the poll, just two points ahead of California. Stanford edges Arizona State for sixth.

Washington grabs the eighth spot, followed by the trio of Utah, Oregon State and USC, while Washington State is picked 12th.

Media have correctly picked the Conference winner 12 times in 21 tries. Arizona has correctly been selected in seven of the previous 12 times it has been slated to capture the league crown.

The 2013-14 season gets underway for the Pac-12 with 10 games on Friday, November 8. Seven of those contests are home games for the Pac-12 and will be aired on the Pac-12 Networks.
