UCLA soccer's Ally Courtnall belts out the National Anthem, then scores goal

Oct 19, 2013

UCLA women soccer's Ally Courtnall set herself up well Friday night as the Bruins faced Arizona State, but it's not what you think.

The junior belted out the national anthem in front of the Bruins' home crowd before she tallied the first of three goals in UCLA's 3-0 victory in Los Angeles. She then assisted on the final goal.

Courtnall is not unfamiliar with playing multiple roles. She is a dual-sport athlete who last season was an honorable mention All-American as part of the Bruins' 4X400 meter relay track and field team. She also played basketball and softball growing up.

And if you weren't convinced Courtnall is versatile enough to sing "O Canada," the daughter of Canadian hockey great Russ Courtnall played for the U-17 Canadian national soccer team growing up and once represented Canada in the latter in the softball Little League World Series.
