Five women's basketball teams represent Pac-12 in preseason polls

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Five teams represent Pac-12 women’s basketball in the preseason polls released today for the 2013-14 season. STANFORD (3), CALIFORNIA (9) and COLORADO (19) were included in the Associated Press  preseason Top-25 with UCLA and WASHINGTON both receiving votes. The Cardinal, Bears and Buffs were voted in the same positions in the USA Today Coaches Preseason Poll while UCLA rounded out the top-25, nabbing the 25th spot.

Stanford and California shared the Pac-12 title a season ago, with the Bears going on to their best finish in program history as they advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament for the first time ever.  

Colorado is coming off their most successful season under fourth-year coach Linda Lappe after the Buffs reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2003-04 season. UCLA also made a return appearance to the tournament in 2013 after a one-year absence, advancing to the second round. Washington has enjoyed two-straight 20-win seasons for the first time since the 1993 and 1994 seasons and welcome the nation’s 11th-ranked recruiting class. 

Stanford, California, Colorado, Washington and UCLA were picked to finish one through five in the Pac-12 preseason coaches poll. The 2013-14 season begins Friday, November 8, 2013 with seven Pac-12 teams kicking off their non-conference slate .
