Three Sun Devil Soccer Players Earn Capital One Academic All-District Recognition

Nov 5, 2013

TEMPE, Ariz – Three Arizona State University women’s soccer players – seniors Kaitlyn Pavlovich and Jasmine Roth and sophomore Cali Farquharson – were named to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 first team, according to an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Pavlovich (Elementary Education and Family & Human Development) and Roth (Biochemistry), who are both due to graduate next spring, are members of ASU’s Barrett Honors College and both also currently maintain a 4.0 GPA.

Pavlovich and Roth have both been major contributors on ASU’s back line this season, helping the Sun Devils to their lowest goals against average (1.11) since 2007. This past weekend, Pavlovich scored a pair of goals (the third and fourth of her career) to help the Sun Devils to a 1-0-1 record in a 2-2 tie vs. Colorado and a 2-1 double-overtime win over Utah.

Farquharson (Biological Sciences), who maintains a 3.90 GPA, is currently ASU’s leader in goals (10 – tied for 2nd in the Pac-12) points (22 – tied for 6th in the Pac-12) and game-winning goals (4 – tied for fourth in the Pac-12). Most recently, Farquharson scored the game-winning goal in Sunday’s win over Utah. With the goal, Farquharson moved into a tie tied for ninth place on ASU’s all-time list with 20 goals. She also became the first Sun Devil to account for 10 or more goals in back-to-back seasons since Patrice Feulner accomplished the feat in 2000-01.

The Sun Devils (9-7-2, 4-4-2 Pac-12) close out the regular season portion of their schedule on Thursday (2 p.m. MT) when they travel to Tucson to take on Arizona in the annual Territorial Cup® Series. The game can be seen live on Pac-12 Networks.
