UCLA jumps to top spot in Pac-12 men’s soccer standings

The Bruins jumped to the top of the Pac-12 men’s soccer standings this week after knocking off then-No. 1 CALIFORNIA, but UCLA’s reign could be short-lived as they face a bye week with California and WASHINGTON still well in the hunt for the Conference title ... This upcoming week features another tough matchup between No. 4 California and No. 3 Washington, this time in Seattle and televised on the Pac-12 Networks. The two teams tied earlier this season when Cal was ranked first and Washington third ... The Bears also travel to face OREGON STATE in the other televised match this week on Friday afternoon, while Washington opens its week hosting STANFORD ... SAN DIEGO STATE takes a break from Conference play to host Wright State on Friday evening ... The top-three teams in the Pac-12 standings have been ranked in the NSCAA National Poll each week so far this season, and this is the sixth-straight week that the Bears, Huskies and Bruins have been in the top ten, as UCLA jumped to No. 2, Washington improved to No. 3 and California came in at No. 4 ... UCLA junior midfielder Leo Stolz took home his second-career Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honor, with his first coming earlier this season, after helping the Bruins sweep the Bay Area schools with 2-1 victories over Stanford and California that helped propel UCLA to the top of the Pac-12 rankings.
