Nov 5, 2013

SEATTLE -- Washington women's basketball has been picked to finish fourth in the Pac-12 in a poll of conference media members. The Dawgs were also picked fourth by the Pac-12 Coaches. In addition, junior guard Jazmine Davis was chosen to the five member All-Pac-12 preseason team also selected by the media.

The poll of Pac-12 media mirrored that of the coaches at the top with Stanford picked as the favorite, followed by California and Colorado. Washington was picked fourth with UCLA and USC rounding out the top half of the conference. Utah was picked seventh, followed by Oregon State, Arizona State, Washington State, Oregon and Arizona.

The Dawgs are coming off a fifth-place finish in the Pac-12 last season after finishing 11-5 in conference. Washington lost All-Pac-12 player Kristi Kingma, but otherwise return four starters, while adding a pair of McDonald's All-Americans and a top-10 recruiting class.

Davis, who is a two-time All-Pac-12 player, was selected to the five-person preaseason team that includes Chiney Ogwumike (unanimous) of Stanford, Cassie Harberts of USC and Brittany Boyd and Gennifer Brandon of California.

The Dawgs open the regular season on Friday night at Saint Mary's for a 6 p.m. tip. Washington's home opener is Friday, November 15 against Portland for a noon tip.
