Video: USC's Andre Heidari seals Stanford upset with 47-yard field goal

Nov 16, 2013

No. 4 Stanford was on a roll heading into Saturday night's matchup with USC at the Coliseum, having come off a huge win over the then-No. 3 Ducks in Palo Alto on Nov. 7.

But not so fast, my friends. The Card's only lead of the night lasted about four minutes, and it was a 7-6 advantage in the second quarter. Coming down the stretch in the fourth quarter, USC and Stanford were tied up at 17. With 1:23 left on the clock and the Trojans staring down 4th & 2, Cody Kessler hit Marqise Lee for 13 yards and a first down, eventually setting up Andre Heidari for a 47-yard field goal with 0:19 left.

Some context: To this point, Heidari was 3 of 8 in field goals 40 yards or longer this season. Watch him redeem himself, at least for now:

With the 20-17 win, USC is now 5-1 under interim head coach Ed Orgeron. The Trojans are back to getting their cake and Ed Orgeron is letting them eat it, too.
