AROUND THE PAC-12

GAME THEMES: UTAH travels to WASHINGTON STATE where both teams still have postseason aspirations with the Utes needing two more wins and the Cougars just one more win to become bowl eligible... OREGON heads to Tucson where the Ducks and Wildcats have had a couple of shootouts in recent years. Oregon has won two of the last three in Tucson, averaging 41.3 points per game, while Arizona has averaged 35.3 points over that span... The 116th Big Game takes place on The Farm this year. The series has certainly had its ebbs and flows. STANFORD is riding a modest 3-game winning streak in the series. However, prior to that, CALIFORNIA had won seven of eight... South Division crown is on the line in Pasadena as ARIZONA STATE visits UCLA. A win by the Sun Devils and they’ll represent the South in the Pac-12 FCG. A win by the Bruins will put them firmly in the driver seat to control their own destiny... WASHINGTON at OREGON STATE pits the league’s top pass defense against the league’s top pass offense. The Huskies allow just 207.1 passing yards per game and have given up just 11 TDs through the air. The Beavers average 396.3 passing yards per game with 33 scoring strikes... COLORADO, coming off its first league victory of the season, looks to take advantage of the Boulder weather when USC visits Saturday. Game time temperatures are expected to be in the low 30s. The Trojans are holding on to a possibility of a South Division crown, while the Buffs need two wins to become bowl eligible.

PAC-12 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SCENARIO:

North Division, OREGON controls its own destiny. Should Oregon win its final two conference games, it would be the North Division representative and host the Pac-12 Football Championship Game.

South Division, ARIZONA STATE and UCLA each control their own destiny. Should Arizona State defeat UCLA Saturday, it would represent the South in the Pac-12 Championship Game. UCLA would need to win its final two games to represent the South in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

STANFORD has a chance to represent the North, while USC also has hopes of a South Division title, but those two teams need help from others for that to happen.

Who can host? Each of the five teams mentioned above (Oregon, Stanford, Arizona State, UCLA and USC) have a chance to host. Oregon can host if it wins out. Arizona State can host if it wins out and Oregon loses one of its two remaining games. After that, too many “ifs” are needed for Stanford, UCLA and USC to host.

UTAH (4-6, 1-6) at WASHINGTON STATE (3-4, 5-5)
UTAH: The Utes held Oregon to 145 rushing yards for the game, which included just 10 first-half rushing yards. The Ducks entered the game averaging 301.6 yards rushing per game... Grice has 901 rushing yards this season, just 99 yards shy of 1,000. The last Sun Devil back to hit the 1,000-yard mark was Cameron Marshall with 1,050 yards in 2011, and Grice would be only the third ASU back to hit the 1,000-yard mark since 2001 as Ryan Torain had 1,229 yards in 2006... The Sun Devils own the league’s best red zone offense (91.4%), having scored in 53 of 58 trips (37 TDs/16 FGs).
