Oregon State’s Nelson voted Pac-12 men’s basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON STATE senior guard Roberto Nelson has been named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for play from Nov. 11-17, the Conference office announced today. 

The Santa Barbara, Calif. native averaged 27.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists to lead the Beavers to wins over Portland and Maryland. His seven assists in both games tied a career high. Earlier in the week, Nelson scored 24 points in a 79-73 win over Portland. In the 90-83 win at Maryland, he scored 31 points to lead the Beavers to their first-ever road win over an ACC team. Nelson shot 52.9 percent (18-of-34) from the field, 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from the three-point line and 88.9 percent (16-of-18) from the free throw line. 

The accolade is Nelson’s first-career weekly award. It is Oregon State’s 45th player of the week selection all-time. 

The Beavers take this week off before hosting Southern Illinois Edwardsville next Tuesday, Nov. 26 in Corvallis, Ore. The game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks with tip-off at 8 p.m. PT.
