Arizona State’s Carson voted Pac-12 men’s basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA STATE sophomore guard Jahii Carson has been named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for play from Nov. 18-24, the Conference office announced today. 

The Mesa, Ariz., native averaged 29.5 points per game over the course of the week, as well as a .575 field goal percentage and a .556 percentage from behind the arc. In ASU’s 86-80 road win over UNLV, the sophomore posted a career-best 40 points which currently stands as the fifth-best individual scoring game in school history. Carson is also just the seventh Sun Devil to score 40 or more points in a game as he was 16-of-25 from the field, adding seven assists and three rebounds against the Rebels. Later in the week in a home game against Bradley, Carson recorded 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the 70-58 Sun Devil victory to help ASU go 5-0 for the first time since 1985-86.

The award is Carson’s first-career weekly honor. It is the 33rd award all-time for Arizona State. 

The Sun Devils host No. 25 Marquette on Monday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. MT in a game that will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1. Arizona State then travels to Fullerton, Calif. this weekend to partake in the Wooden Legacy, taking on No. 23 Creighton in the first-round matchup.
