Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion announced Monday that he is returning for the 2014 season, his senior year.

Mannion, who has graduated from OSU with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, will enter the 2014 season already owning 12 of the school’s passing marks which includes the Pac-12 record for yards in one season with 4,662. He will enter the upcoming season needing 1,839 yards to break the league’s career mark of 12,274 set by former USC standout Matt Barkley.

“I’m excited to return for my senior year,” Mannion, a two-time team captain, said. “I weighed the pros and cons of making myself eligible for the Draft with my family and current coaching staff, and came to the conclusion that I have decided to continue my career with my teammates at  Oregon State.”

Mannion had one of the best seasons in the history of the NCAA in 2013, passing for 4,662 yards, 37 touchdowns and a completion percentage of 66.3.

“I also want to thank Beaver Nation for all of the support I have received during my career; playing in Reser Stadium for another season had an impact in my decision,” Mannion added.

Mannion utilized the NFL Draft Advisory Board, made up of NFL scouts, to determine interest professional teams may have in him and was projected to be a third round selection.

Deposits are being accepted for 2014 OSU season tickets for home games that include Portland State, San Diego State, Washington State, Arizona State, California, Utah and Oregon.
