Zumwalt Named Athlete of Week; Hundley's 86-yard TD is Play of Week
UCLA Football player Jordan Zumwalt is the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week, and quarterback Brett Hundley has the UCLABruins.com Play of the Week with his 86-yard touchdown run in the Sun Bowl.
Zumwalt, a senior linebacker, earned his first career UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honors after leading UCLA's defense to a 42-12 win over Virginia Tech in the Sun Bowl. Zumwalt, who was named the Sun Bowl's co-MVP, had a game-high 10 tackles (4 solo, 6 shared) and added an interception and 43-yard return. He finished the season with 93 tackles, second-best on the team, two interceptions and three forced fumbles.
Hundley's 86-yard touchdown run in the second quarter broke a 7-7 tie and gave UCLA the lead for good. The run was the longest by a Bruin player since DeShaun Foster ran 92 yards for a score in 2001 vs. Washington, and it also set a school bowl game record for longest rush in a game, breaking Gaston Green's record of 79 yards in the Freedom Bowl vs. BYU in 1986. Hundley finished with 161 rushing yards in the game.
